On Wednesday 12 August 2020, the ICO issued a statement confirming that the Age Appropriate Design Code has completed the process of Parliamentary approval and has been issued by the ICO.
This now means the Code will come into effect on 2 September 2020, and the 12 month transition period will then begin to allow organisations time to comply with the standards of the Code.
The ICO has made additional resources available (here) to assist organisations with preparing for compliance with the Code before the end of the transition period in September 2021, including a template Data Protection Impact Assessment (here).
You can read more about the 15 standards of the Code, and practical steps to comply, in our summary here.
