On 17 June 2021, the ASA announced that is has launched an online list, where it will publish the names of social media influencers who routinely fail to clearly disclose when they are advertising to consumers on social media.

This development follows the ASA's Influencer Monitoring Report, published in March 2021, which highlighted that compliance levels among influencers remain low.

Named influencers will be included on the list for three months and will be subject to a period of enhanced monitoring spot checks. Four influencers are currently included on the list.

The ASA also stated that it is planning to take action against brands that repeatedly fail to disclose ads or do not provide assurances that they will properly label ads in future.
