The priority period to register domain names directly in the .au namespace will open on 24 March 2022.
During the six month priority period, only individuals and entities that currently hold a domain name registration in another .au namespace - such as .com.au, .id.au, .net.au - will be able to apply to register the same domain name directly in the .au namespace.
After the six month priority period, registration of .au domain names will be opened to anyone that can satisfy the Australian presence requirement. For foreign entities that are not registered with the Australian Securities and Investment Commission, the Australian presence requirement will only be satisfied with an Australian trade mark application or registration for a mark that exactly matches the desired domain name.
